Tax Credits for Rio Grande Valley Investors

Willacy County Housing Authority has announced plans to finance low-income apartments by selling tax credits to potential investors, according to Valley Morning Star.

The housing project costs $9 million to build the apartments, but will only have to pay $2 million in loans. The rest of the funds, reports say, will come from tax credit sales.

The program must go through an approval process for the ambitious tax credit plan to take effect. Right now there are no investors, reported Valley Morning Star.

New health care law affects small businesses

If you are a small business owner, new changes are quickly approaching in regards to your healthcare and that of your employees. The Patient Protection and Affordable Care act may affect many, especially small business owners.

The law will take effect roughly about two years from now, on January 1. 2014, and will effect one-person businesses to multi worker business.

Since last year, firms that employ 25 full time workers or less have been eligible for a tax break if they cover at least half the cost of health insurance.

In 2014, when the Patient Protection and Affordable Care act is enabled, firms that reach the 25 full-time equivalent employees or $50,000 in average salaries will not receive any tax credit.
